Happy to Report: She Writes Things - Anthology Update

I tell you what.... time sure has flown by since my last post. I don't even know how that happened. But I do know the anthology isn't ready yet.  I have removed all of the separate works (books) from the retailer's sites. I had to wait a period for all of those to be removed and am happy to report that they are all gone.  That was important because if I were to have those lingering and tried to upload the anthology, the retailers, Amazon especially, would ping me for duplicate and/or plagiarized content, and it would turn into this giant headache. While I have all of my documents in Word and saved to an external hard drive and on the cloud, I put them all into one large Google Doc. Easy for me to edit and work on using whatever device I wanted.  Well, with a document that long, my s pell checker and Grammarly were playing very ugly with each other, and it was slowing down the typing and editing process, causing a large amount of frustration.  I then decided to...

Happy to Report | The Chosen Cover

Writing Status Update: And, that is a wrap from me for tonight. After fighting with my brain over an $29 image, I scrapped the other cover and found one that actually was a scene from the story. So, here we are. Just a few tweaks and it will be ready. Now, I just need to format the document and upload everything to the publishing sites. But that, well that is going to have to wait for another night. I am tapping out.

Happy to Report | We're Almost There!

Writing Status Update: #34243243243242343243t4354253 😂😂😂 Whatever. After working my day job all week, then spending most of the weekend working on my side business, cleaning, sorting, running errands, my brain farted and there was no more.  I could not sit down at the desk any more to focus on cover creation and book formatting. BUT, at least the story, writing, edits, cover pick, and title pick are DONE. Now, it's just a matter of wrapping up the pretty package and releasing it into the wild. It's pretty crazy to think about, that after 5 years I'll be published again. It almost doesn't seem real. && then to focus on the Hunter and Scarlett tale...because..yeah, that one.

Happy to Report | Stuck on Titles

I am STILL sitting on these f.cking titles and it's driving me insane. Dylan and Cambrie desperately need a title so I can get this book off my desk and published. Wanna help? Cool... so here are the ones we are sitting with right now. Got any ideas? I am sending out an SOS.   Stay I See You Passport Abroad Awaken Awakening Hunted one suggested Destination Unknown, which I love, but it is also the name of an Agatha Christie novel and while majority of book titles are not copyrighted like that, I'm not really interested in using a title of hers.  If I can work around it somehow, like use the words mixed with some others, I am open to that idea. Seriously, NEVER had this much trouble with a book title.

Happy to Report | It's Coming

Worked my way through all of the current beta readers' suggestions and edits yesterday. 😲 Still, a few minor details to wrap up and settle on a cover. I'm not sold on the title so I will have to brainstorm there. It's coming you guys, it's coming.

Happy to Report | the Cambrie and Dylan tale

Writing Status Update: Final run-through of Cambrie and Dylan's story -- DONE.  Just sent the Cambrie/Dylan story off to the beta readers... can we do an anxiety check? 'Cause..I had it...bad... So, while those guys are reading away.... I'll work on this other story... 'Cause the Hunter/Scarlett tale needs to be hammered out.

Happy to Report | Things are Coming Along

As my brain tries to wrap around the last few big edits before handing the Cambrie and Dylan international love tale over to the beta reading editors  - I've re-read the story I abandoned to crank out that one.  Pretty sure it's turned itself into a polyamory tale without even trying. I think Scarlett and Hunter will appreciate more prey.

Happy to Report | 2nd Writing Status Update for 2021

Writing Status Update: I can officially say all the he/she pronouns have been changed to the character's name where necessary.  I do not ever recommend writing a novella without having character names in place first.  I'm still flip-flopping over the title and there are a couple of places I want to do some rewriting. But that annoying task is over at least.

(not so) Happy to Report | Final Writing Update for 2020

Saw this little gem on Tumblr and it really got me thinking.  I’m feeling this very much right now. There’s one big finish just have to trade out the names and do a few minor final edits. But, why am I dragging my ass so much on it? Not sure. Another book has huge chunks written and just needs to have some spaces filled. Finishing these would be monumental but yet, I can’t seem to do it. We won’t even discuss the 100′s of partially finished drafts sitting on my hard drive begging me every day to open them and write. Does. It. Ever. End.

Happy to Report : 5012 Words

Writing Status Update: In case you missed the memo , the project I've been working on has been put on hold for the month of November. And, this new project is now sitting at 5,012 words. And just like that... day one is complete. 29 more to go.

Happy to Report: It's NaNoWriMo Time!

Every November since 2009 I have participated in NaNoWriMo...  Some projects I finish.  Some get shelved. None of them have been published, except this one.  Four years ago. It was the last book I published. The other 2 parts in the trilogy sit there, pestering me. Daily. This book changed me somehow and gave me the longest-running writer's block in years.  Until a few months back when I started a new writing project that I cranked out in record time. Today, I shelve that project to start something I've been knocking around since last fall. The outline has been written. The bits and pieces I have jotted down for the last year are being placed within the outline today.  November, I already hate you, but the challenge has been accepted. Let's see if I can finish this project. And who knows, maybe I'll actually publish 2 books instead of one in the next few months. We shall see.

Happy to Report: A New Update

Writing Status Update: Meh. That is all. But seriously. I'm just here, trying to get the name swapped out and the next thing I know, I am rewriting whole chapters. Cause, fuck you that's why. 😂🤣 Chapter 5 almost done. 5 more to go.  NaNoWriMo starts in 3 days so this project will be shelved for the month of November so I can work on something else. Unless, I quit. Which, at this rate, is very well possible.

Happy to Report: Writing Update

Writing Status Update: It's been a hot minute since there's been any new news on the latest book. I'll be honest, I haven't felt much like dealing with it recently.  And now the realization has set in that it's almost Nov. 1 which means NaNoWriMo is right around the corner. So I need to hustle and get these changes made in this book so that I can bust my ass in November for the umpteenth year in a row and crank out thousands and thousands of words in 30 days.  Also, the book still has no title and soon I'll be putting a call out for beta readers, so at least there's that to look forward to.

Happy to Report: .. more changes

Writing Status Update:  When you still aren't settled with the main character's names, have a breakdown about unrelated things, have a 2.5hr phone call, and have a name breakthrough... I am now 1/3 of the way through the name & pronoun changes.

Happy to Report: The name game

Writing Status Update:  When you write an entire book without your two main characters having a name....  Oh yes, I just did that. FYI... books been written. Scenes all filled in. I DID THE DAMN THING. Now, to come up with some names.

Happy To Report: Word Update

I'm currently holding at 14,145 words. Still not done but I've hit that wall of not knowing where to go/where I should go with a few scenes...SOOOOOOOOO .. it's time for me to walk away for a bit and hand it over to my editor to work her magic.  So thankful for this woman who has been at my side for 13 years. She knows my voice. She knows my style. She knows how I write. And she knows what to do when I get stuck.... cheers to breaking the 4-year publishing block. Cheers to breaking through some massive writer's block while I'm at it.
